Beautiful Orlando, Florida holds many attractions for many people, including affordable housing and apartments - one of which you have recently rented. The addition of several colleges in the Orlando proper area is another added bonus, and for many Everest University is a desired destination point for a continued educational experience. Offering Bachelor's, Associate's and Master's degrees in everything from accounting to paralegal to medical assistance, EU is a locally accredited Florida university that has something for everyone in a vocational setting; those interested in taking classes directly related to your major immediately while avoiding elective or superfluous classes will find a lot to love at Everest. In addition to being a very well rounded university academically, the school offers career placement services, small work teams, hands-on training and dedicated instructors with real world experience. The only caveat is this: If you take classes at EU, it is only accredited as an independent University, and does NOT have regional accreditation. So be sure to find out what classes will and won't transfer before you begin taking classes. Admission to the University is fairly basic - you will need to have a high school diploma or equivalent, followed by an assessment test. Finally, you will be required to meet with a campus advisor, who can help you narrow down your choices of major. The tuition costs are fairly reasonable - a year of school is $10,000. Add another $1,100 for books and supplies and the total cost for admission hovers around $12,000. The University does not offer campus housing, but being central to the local community are large attractions such as the Walt Disney World resort, Sea World and Universal Orlando Resort. In addition, you can participate in the local cultural events, many of which are Native American or Cuban in origin. There are several art galleries and museums that offer the participant a view of the history of Florida as seen through various culturally diverse eyes. As with your time spent at EU, the local culture is further proof that one should never stop learning.

Have you ever dreamed of being a doctor? Do you want to change the world? Are you tired of just watching 'ER' in your apartment all day long, wondering why John Stamos gets all the chicks? Then drop the remote and start hitting the books at the Florida Hospital College of Health Sciences. Florida Hospital College of Health Sciences is a regionally accredited private christian medical college, specializing in nursing and allied health education. Located in Orlando, Florida on the campus of Florida Hospital, the facility offer Associate's, Bachelor's, Master's and general certifications in: Diagnostic Medical Sonography, Nuclear Medicine Technology, Nurse Anesthesia, Nursing, Occupational Therapy Assistant, Pre-Professional Studies and Radiography. They also offer classes that can be transfered to other accredited schools. Faith plays heavily in the teaching, with their stated goal being to have the "Faculty, Staff and students work together to be a part of the healing ministry of Christ." They are owned and operated by the Seventh Day Adventist Church. FHCHS is the largest of the 350 health care facilities located worldwide If you want to attend FHCHS, the requirements are pretty straightforward. A minimum of a 2.5 GPA from a regionally accredited high school or official passing scores on the GED will likely get you in the door, although students with 12 or more college hours are exempt from the GPA requirement. Students with less than 60 college hours are required to submit college transcripts. If you decide upon a specific program at the college, the requirements for being admitted to each major are different. For example, if you want to be enrolled in the Nursing program, you must have a 2.5 GPA and be willing to sit through the NCLEX-RN, or the nursing equivalent of the GRE. Tuition for the college is fairly high, about $275 a credit hour. Depending on the program that you decide to go into, the cost of attendance at FHCHS can be as high as $37,000 a year if you are working towards a Master's degree in Nursing. The school is fairly expensive even though they are on a semester-based schedule, and if you live in an apartment, the college charges per trimester as opposed to semester. Housing is another factor to consider. The College offers housing to its students living more than 30 miles from the main campus. There are two apartment complexes available for students enrolled in on-campus programs, with two students assigned to the one bedroom apartments and four students are assigned to the two bedroom apartments. Needless to say, the quarters tend to be a bit cramped, although each apartment comes furnished, with basic amenities such as a refrigerator and stove, a couch and beds that bunk and un-bunk. Electronic appliances are not included. The college is reasonably close to the city, so if you wanted to find an apartment odds are good you can hunt down a community with cheaper rates and less restrictive requirements. Those looking for privacy while maintaining access to the local culture and events may want to go this route while attending the college, ensuring plenty of quiet time for all of that studying.

So, you rented a beautiful apartment in Orlando, Florida, but your life doesn't seem complete. Sure, the sunshine-dominated weather is to die for, and the nightlife is crackling, but the call for higher learning is still nagging at your heels. Seize the day, stop worrying and enroll in the University of Central Florida! The University of Central Florida was founded in 1963 as Florida Technological College, with the goal of providing highly trained personnel to support the Kennedy Space Center. In 1978, the name was changed to the University of Central Florida as its academic focus had expanded to encompass all academic fields. Today it is the largest undergraduate university in the state of Florida, with an annual enrollment of 50,000 students. It is the sixth largest university in the United States (!), offering Bachelor's, Master's and Doctoral degrees. If you are attending UCF as a new student, you should be aware that the school, fittingly, has specific requirements. The college requires that your SAT and or ACT scores be at least in the mid-range for entrance, and your GPA must be at least 3.4 to 4.1. Your SAT score range must be from 1140 to 1280. Finally, you ACT score must be a 24 to 28. But even if you meet the minimum requirements for entrance, the University does not guarantee admission; the college only admits those whose "credentials indicate the greatest promise of academic success." The top 10 majors that are taken by students at UCF are: Business, Biology, Psychology, Engineering, Health Sciences, Computer Sciences, Journalism, Nursing, Hospitality Management, and Forensic Science. So if you decide to pick any of these majors, know that you will have plenty of company (not to mention competition). If you are admitted to UCF, you need to think about tuition. If you are a Florida resident, your total tuition for one year will be $3,947 and that is without books, housing or transportation added in. If you choose to live on campus, you have many options to choose from. There are many opportunities to live close to campus for those preferring a private abode, and some of the apartments even offer student rates and other discounts in the efforts to attract yearly renters. for those willing to travel to school, the apartment option has a lot to offer - waiting lists for apartments are rare, they can be rented anytime of the year regardless of the semester, and if you want to have a roommate, you choose who you want to live with. Many of the rentable apartments are also close to transit routes that run through town and close to campus, so even if you don't have a car, you can still be mobile and get around. All in all, the University of Central Florida is a very competitive school with a solid reputation.
